ABOUT US
SWI 40 Years
The Foundation for Information and Development (SWI) was established by notary act on July 30, 1977. A few of those who took the initiative were Frank Martinus Arion, a well known Ducth Antillian writer, Trudy Guda, Frans Olivieira, Ramon Reeder (deceased), Harold Jap A Joe and Cynthia Rozenblad. These founding members thought that there was an information gap not only locally but also internationally and this stagnated cultural, social, economic and technological development. From the beginning an important activity of SWI was to bridge the information gap by producing relevant information about development issues locally and internationally. The last 40 years this information has been attuned to our own possibilities and then spread and finally used for identity formation and local development. SWI has grown into a non – profit organization that produces information on cultural, social, economical and political topics. It also disseminates this information for a wide audience.
